1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the HoldIt mobile application (“the app,” “HoldIt”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the app.
2. Description of Service
HoldIt is a mobile game in which users watch humorous content (videos and images) while a front-facing camera detects their facial reactions. The goal is to avoid smiling or laughing. The app includes:
- Gameplay modes (Survival, Campaign, Daily Challenge)
- XP progression and leveling system
- Leaderboards and achievements
- In-app advertising (interstitial, rewarded, and banner ads)
- In-app purchases (e.g., “Remove Ads”)
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use HoldIt. By using the app, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that you have your parent or guardian’s consent to use the app and agree to these Terms.
4. User Accounts
4.1 Anonymous Accounts
HoldIt automatically creates an anonymous account when you first use the app. No personal information is required. Your account is identified by a randomly generated ID stored on your device.
4.2 Account Responsibility
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device. If you uninstall the app, your local account data may be lost. We are not responsible for lost progress due to device changes, uninstallation, or data clearing.
5. Camera Usage
5.1 Purpose
HoldIt requests access to your device’s front-facing camera solely for the purpose of detecting facial reactions (smiling, laughing) during gameplay.
5.2 On-Device Processing
All camera processing occurs entirely on your device. Camera images and video are never recorded, stored, uploaded, or transmitted to any server. Only coarse reaction outcomes (“held,” “smiled,” “laughed”) are sent to our servers for gameplay purposes.
5.3 Optional Feature
Camera access is optional. You may deny camera permission and still use the app, but the reaction detection gameplay feature will not function.
6. Content
6.1 Content Sources
HoldIt displays curated humorous content including short video clips and images. Content is sourced from publicly available platforms and is curated for humor and appropriateness.
6.2 Content Moderation
We make reasonable efforts to ensure all content is appropriate for the app’s age rating (12+). However, humor is subjective and we cannot guarantee that all users will find all content appropriate.
6.3 Content Reporting
If you encounter content you believe is inappropriate, offensive, or in violation of these Terms, use the in-app report button (flag icon) during gameplay to report it. We review all reports and take appropriate action.
6.4 No User-Generated Content
HoldIt does not allow users to upload, create, or share content within the app. All content is provided by HoldIt.
7. In-App Purchases
7.1 Available Purchases
HoldIt offers in-app purchases, including but not limited to:
- Remove Ads — A one-time, non-consumable purchase that permanently removes interstitial and banner advertisements from the app
7.2 Payment Processing
All purchases are processed through Apple’s App Store or Google Play Store. We do not collect or store any payment information. All purchases are subject to the respective store’s terms and refund policies.
7.3 Restoring Purchases
If you reinstall the app or switch devices, you can restore previous purchases using the “Restore Purchases” option in the app’s Profile section. This validates your purchase with the relevant app store.
7.4 Refunds
Refund requests must be directed to Apple or Google, as they process all payments:

8. Advertising
8.1 Ad Display
HoldIt displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. Ads may include interstitial (full-screen), rewarded video (opt-in), and banner formats.
8.2 Ad Placement
Advertisements are shown only at natural break points (between rounds, on result screens) and never during active gameplay or while content is being displayed. Rewarded ads are always optional — you choose whether to watch them.
8.3 Ad-Free Option
You may purchase the “Remove Ads” in-app purchase to permanently remove interstitial and banner advertisements. Rewarded ads remain available as an optional feature since they provide gameplay rewards.
9. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the app
- Exploit bugs, glitches, or unintended features for unfair advantage
- Circumvent or manipulate the ad system or in-app purchase validation
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the app
- Submit false or misleading content reports
- Attempt to access other users’ accounts or data
- Use the app in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our servers
10. Intellectual Property
10.1 App Ownership
HoldIt, including its design, code, gameplay mechanics, branding, and user interface, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws.
10.2 Content Licensing
Content displayed within the app (videos, images) is curated from third-party sources and used under applicable fair use provisions. All third-party content remains the property of its respective owners.
10.3 Limited License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use HoldIt for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.
11. Disclaimers
11.1 “As Is” Service
HoldIt is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
11.2 No Guarantee of Availability
We do not guarantee that the app will be available at all times, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app at any time without notice.
11.3 Content Disclaimer
We are not responsible for the accuracy, appropriateness, or quality of third-party content displayed in the app. Content is provided for entertainment purposes only.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of HoldIt.
Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the app shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $10, whichever is greater.
13. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to HoldIt at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Upon termination, your license to use the app is immediately revoked.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France / EU. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of HoldIt shall be resolved in the courts of France / EU.
